Mermaid sequin fabric is the coolest fabric. It changes color by swiping sequins up or down, is easy to sew (no need to cut sequins on the seam line), and is great for dresses and home decor.
You may have seen this fabric on pillows in your home store. It is a great children's product and is considered even a "fidget" toy, "even though it is a pillow. Massage this mermaid sequin fabric is very addictive! I saw this cloth at the IceFabrics dock at the Original Sewing & Quilt Expo in Schaumburg, Il. I knew I had to get some of my girls twins. Love anything and I thought it would keep their hands busy. Instead of making a pillow, I chose to change their sweatshirt for each of them, using their favorite colors: pink and purple. I thought they were stroking their bellies all over the kindergarten. How cute!
These photos were taken before I re-stitched the thread that tied back to the sweatshirts, which is why the pins. But you get the idea! I have used a serger on the arms and parts of the machine and a standard neckline and hem binding machine. The twin needle would have been preferred, but I had no access to one at the Expo.

We have a simple pattern designed for the tail type of dress, and it can make a great little gift for your life. You can use mermaid scales fabric with sequin only on the lower end or on the entire dress. When doing this last one, be sure to weave a soft material to ensure that no one is scratched by the missing sequin. The fin will not need a layer of fabric, as it is sewn as a separate piece of clothing.
